Homeless, homeless…. ???

With our upcoming Adventure into the unknown, I can’t help but think of the lyrics of the song by South African band, Ladysmith Black Mambazo:

Homeless, homeless
Moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake
Homeless, homeless
Moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake
We are homeless, we are homeless
The moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake
And we are homeless, homeless, homeless
The moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake

It really describes what I have been experiencing with my family, since we decided to “Brave the Wildnerness” and venture out on our road trip. Two weeks ago, my husband and I packed up our house and our entire lives into two average sized storage units.

Removing any safety net, with no home to return to, we are now ready to begin our adventure with our dog, Jack the Black labrador and experience something fresh and new as we journey around South Africa to see what our beautiful country has to offer.

I know that we will be spending many nights staring at the “moonlight sleeping on a midnight lake” and I am excited and just a little bit nervous at the same time. It’s a brave step and not one that we are taking lightly! Trust, faith, belief and bold are words that pop into my mind as I think of our attitudes that will continue to evolve into higher levels of confidence. We intend to take each day as an opportunity to explore, have fun and observe ourselves stepping out of our comfort zones and into new states of expanded awareness. It’s the next step…..

For the past two weeks we have experimented with living simply in a boarding house with Jack. New experiences in new environments, re-wire your brain and re-fresh your body and soul and this is exactly what we are after – life at a higher level of joy – will it work? Will we regret it? Will we realize that we are crazy? stupid? or will we confirm that we are simply two brave souls who love life and have decided that everything that society says is important, doesn’t always fit our model of reality.

With only a few hours to go before we head out in our 4 x 4 with Jack in the back, relaxing in his new camo hammock, we are about to find out!
